 The history of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. can be found on our official National Headquarters website at www.deltasigmatheta.org On November 24, 1930, Rho Sigma and Alpha Tau Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority were chartered at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. The National President, Anna Julian, performed the ceremony and signed the official charter for these two chapters. In June of 1959, the name "Rho Sigma Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority," was changed to "Shreveport Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (A Public Serivce Sorority)."
 In October 1985, under the presidency of Soror Carol Jackson Lynch, the dream of a Delta Life Development Center became a reality when a down payment was made on the building and land at 1301 Sycamore. The LDC continues to be a viable facility in the community and serves a base for the planning, development and implementation of programs, all of which focus on the Sorority's Five point Thrust:
